About this event

In this workshop Tom will coach you towards a forward stroke that is more ergonomic and efficient. Your on the water endurance and paddling career will both benefit from a good forward stroke. For those who attended the shoulder exercise class, this will be a good follow on.

In this clinic, we will:

Learn shoulder anatomy and movements
Review exercises for shoulder strength and stability
Practice the forward stroke component movements on dry land
Practice on water with coaching
Learn self coaching pointers
Take a short trip to practice what you have learned.

I primarily know about a euro-blade forward stroke. However, the ergonomic principles and movement limitations apply to greenland paddle forward stroke. If greenland is your primary paddle, we will adapt the principles to the greenland stroke.

Bring:
A pad, such as a foam sleeping pad or yoga mat, to sit on the ground
A low stool that you can sit on
A shaft of about 4ft that you can hold like a paddle for dry-land practice. Wood dowels, pieces of PVC pipe, or similar work well.
Boat, paddle, and dress appropriate for a paddle.
If you don’t have any of the above, no need to purchase. Bring extra if you have it and we will share as needed.

Meet at Bloedel Donovan park boat ramp at 10:00am Sunday morning, dressed for paddling, boats on the beach. The clinic will last bout 3 hours.
