Yellow Island/Jones Island Overnighter – POSTPONED until further notice

April 24, 2020 @ 8:00 am April 26, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Paddle thru the heart of the San Juan Islands.  Visit The Nature Conservancy’s Yellow Island which is usually ablaze with wild flower in the spring.  Two nights camping on Jones Island State Park.  Easy camping with pit toilets and nice primitive campsites.   Paddle 13 nm Friday and about 7 returning Sunday.  Saturday we will tour Yellow Island and paddle thru the Wasp islands.

Requirements:

Fairly protected waters.  Potential for wind waves, and other standard hazards.  PFD and Immersion wear required. Standard Sea Kayak with proper floatation is required.  You must have the standard beginning skills, such as wet exit, unassisted re-entry, etc.  You must be able to pack your boat with all your own camping gear and food and water.  You must bring all your own water, it will not be available at the campsite.  This is a Skill level II trip with the possibility of some eddy lines and mild current action.  If you are unsure of your suitability call me and we will discuss it.  This is intended for everyone but a raw beginner.

Group size is limited to eight, (at the moment this trip is full)  If someone wants to coordinate a second or third group, that would be fine.  There is plenty of camping room for a larger group.  There is a possibility of a Saturday-Sunday only option if someone wants to step up and facilitate that.

We are coordinating this trip with paddlers from Hole-in-the-Wall Club of Anacortes.
