Getting ready to volunteer as a rescue boater for Ski to Sea, or to review rescue and towing skills for the upcoming paddling season?
Practice in the location where some of the rescue boaters will be stationed on race day. Bring radios, tow belts, helmets, short contact tows, and dress for immersion–also, bring a way to keep your glasses or sunglasses from getting lost (someone has to get wet to facilitate rescue practice!)
Butts in boats 6 PM! Meet in the parking lot near the boat launch, near Anthony’s Restaurant at Squalicum Harbor (across the street from the Coast Guard Station.) Take Bellwether Way from Roeder Avenue to get there. Buddy-up to carry boats to the launch area, and watch for larger boats/trailers coming in or out.
This evening’s practice will be facilitated by Barb Francis and Dave Peebles (who has helped as a safety boater for Sea to Ski), but it would be helpful to have others with skills in this area. Questions? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
